REPORT WRITING

Points to Remember:
1. The report must be given a catchy title to grab the interest of the reader.
2. The ideas should be systematically presented in short and informative sentences.
3. A report must be written in the past tense.
4. It should be concise and written as clearly as possible.
5. Although marks are not deducted for exceeding the word limit, a speech should be written within 120-150 words.
6. Marks may be deducted for grammatical errors and mistakes in the spellings and punctuation marks.
7. Marks are awarded on the content and expression of the write-up. Therefore, special care should be taken to maintain the coherence, accuracy and fluency of the content.

SAMPLE REPORTS
Q.1.Your school organized a charity show for the recent flood victims of Ladakh. Write a report on the same as a student of class IX, Amit.

ABC School organized a charity show on 15 April 20xx. The show was organized to aid the victims of the flood affected areas of Ladakh. The programme began with the condolence speech of the chief guest, which was followed by the speech of the principal, Mr. Rawat Sethi. Students had been invited with their parents for the occasion. Everyone came forward to make generous contributions. The donations made were in the form of clothes, food, money and other basic requirements. The chief guest lauded the efforts of the students and teachers. The chief guest himself presented the team with a cheque of one lakh rupees. The total money collected for the victims exceeded the estimated amount. Besides, the show had many dance and singing performances to attract more contributions.
Q.2. Q. Recently, Founder’s Day was celebrated in your school. Write a report in 120-150 words describing the celebration. You are Astha Sharma.

The Founder's Day of XYZ school was organised in the school auditorium on 5 March 20xx. It marked the golden jubilee of teaching excellence of the school. The honorable Education minister was the chief guest for the event, which was attended by all the students and their parents. Many alumni were also invited. The grand event began with the inaugural speech by the school principal followed by the chief guest. Every class had prepared a program which they presented beautifully. Various competitions were also held to mark the day. Most of the contests were team based and the winning teams were awarded prizes by the chief guest. The celebration ended with the national anthem, sung by the students and teachers alike. Before the dispersal of the crowd, a one week holiday was announced by the school managing committee. This brought the much needed respite from the hectic schedules of managing the studies and rehearsals.
