SPEECH WRITING 2

Sample Speeches
Q. 1. The recent changes in the evaluation system of education are a hot topic of discussion. Your principal decides to address the topic in the school assembly. Write a speech for her. The topic is: ‘Is CCE better than board exams?’
Answer:
Is CCE Better than Board Exams?
Good morning teachers and my dear students. Today, I would like to address the question whether CCE or Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation is better than board exams.
As we know major changes have been brought about in our education system. The new scheme of education brings a whole new picture to the traditional education system. It aims to divide the syllabus into two semesters, thereby reducing the burden and mental pressure on students. Promoting comprehensive study, the new system would lead to improved performance of the students.
Besides academic help, it introduces grade system which evaluates important qualities like teamwork, innovation, behaviour, etc. This would help in the development of the overall personality of students. However, there are some disadvantages in this system, which include the difficulties it poses in the marking system and the over-engagement of students in projects. Nonetheless, I think students are going to reap the benefits of this change eventually.
Thank you.
Q.2. You are deeply affected by the negative impact of television commercials on children. You decide to give a speech in your school assembly. Write this speech using the following notes.
• Children imitate
• Promote smoking etc.
• No censor
• Bad habits
• obesity
Answer: Television Commercials and Children
Good morning to our Principal, teachers and my dear friends. I stand before you to deliver a small speech on the harmful effects that television commercials can have on young children.
Every program on the TV has commercial breaks. Many of these advertisements and commercials have adverse affects on children. Young children often take the things shown on TV to be real. For example, they may try to imitate the stunts presented in the motorcycle commercials. Some advertisements might seem to promote smoking, drugs, alcohol, etc. To check the correct form of projection, concerned authority needs to censor the ads. Again, clever and striking rendering often attract children to unhealthy food. Many children turn obese due to the bad habits encouraged by such commercials.
It is important to realize that screening is not really possible when it comes to advertisements. Hence, an overall check has to me done. All commercials should be made keeping in mind the children viewership.
 Thank you.
